See Jenny Run. 3 ways to get motivated & stay there

Meet Jenny:

I wasn’t always a runner, but I’ve always considered myself an athlete. Through my teenaged years, I competed in the sport of ballroom dancing. When my college years rolled around, ballroom dancing had become out of reach, financially and physically, so I needed to find a new hobby. Running seemed perfect: a great workout to keep me in shape, a way to test my mental strength, and best of all, inexpensive.

What keeps you motivated to stay healthy?

I LOVE the way I feel when I nourish my body with good food, and I don’t want to ever lose that feeling. Luckily, I have a boyfriend who loves to cook with lots of vegetables, so it’s very easy to stay on track!

TIP: Don’t tempt yourself with “bad” food. Take a day and clean out your fridge and pantry. You will thank yourself later when you’ll be craving cookies, and instead, you’ll be eating delicious fruit!

What keeps you motivated to get out the door?

My friends are my #1 motivation. They are my support group. They push me to be a better person in and outside of the gym.

TIP: Find a group of guys or gals (a mixture of both is even better!)  to keep you accountable each and every day. Create a Facebook group or text thread where you can share your accomplishments with each other!

What keeps you motivated to maintain your healthy lifestyle?

I love pushing myself to be the best I can be. Your brain is a big piece in consistency, working out, and maintaining the drive to keep healthy habits. I have a list of goals I keep next to my bed, and every couple of months, I update them. Checking a goal off my list makes me want to strive to be a better me!

TIP: Make a list of goals. Start small, for example, run a mile under 9 minutes, then dream a little bigger, such as, run a half marathon by the end of the year!
